Slain dragon sketches

While playing cards with some friends I was doodling. I sketched  this image of a great battle between two living creatures one human, one dragon. This reflects the problems our friends were having. They had just won a long standing battle but they did not notice there was another one just behind them. I just did a few more detailed studies before putting color to canvas.

Poem

By Gail Wakeham

He’d slain the fearsome Dragon,

The battle over and complete,

Time to rest his tired body,

That’s his innocent belief,

But far off in the distance,

There’s something in the sky,

Surly not another Dragon,

He lets out a weary sigh,

His hackles start to rise,

As he hears the creature roar,

He’ll rise his mighty sword again,

To confront a beast once more,
